The NTA score for JEE Main 2025 Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning) is obtained through a percentile-based normalisation process. This ensures equality between different exam sessions having different difficulty levels.

Formula for NTA Score Calculation

JEE Main score calculation

The overall and subject-wise percentile score is determined by the formula:

SessionTotal Candidates in SessionYour RankPercentile FormulaCalculated Percentile ScoreSession 11,00,0005,000(95,000 / 1,00,000) × 10095.00%Session 21,20,0006,000(1,14,000 / 1,20,000) × 10095.00%Overall——Highest percentile score between both sessions95.00%

  • The Percentile Score indicates how well you did in comparison to others.
  • Calculation: Take the number of candidates with scores less than or equal to your score, divide by the number of candidates, and then multiply by 100.
  • Final NTA Score: Your final NTA score will be the highest percentile from all sessions and subjects.

What is considered a good score in JEE Paper 2?

JEE Main Paper 2 is held for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning programs in premier institutions such as NITS, SPAS, and other centrally funded institutions. A "good score" in JEE Main Paper 2 varies with cut-offs, level of competition, and the college you want to get into.

  • If a candidate scores 250+ out of 400, they will get a percentile above 99, they will be eligible for top institutions such as SPA Delhi, NIT Trichy and NIT Calicut.
  • Top 100 ranks in Paper 2A in 2024 were generally obtained by students who scored between 270–300+ marks.
  • General category cut-offs for B.Arch courses in NITS ranged between 230–240 marks based on the branch and state quota.
  • Candidates getting 200–250 marks can expect a 95–98 percentile, which is strong for NIT Rourkela, NIT Bhopal, and other core NITS.
  • Below 150 typically generates a percentile of less than 90, which may be too low for core NITS but can be good enough for getting admitted into private architecture schools or new NITS.
