Ajay Kumar Garg College Engineering popularly known as AKGEC, was established in 1998 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The institute is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. AKGEC is the only Engineering college to be awarded A++ by NAAC. AKGEC has been ranked 77 outof 246 colleges in engineering by India Today and 131 out of 762 colleges by Collegedunia in 2025.
AKGEC offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA courses. AKGEC offers B.Tech as its flagship course in 12 specializations, and M.Tech is offered in 4 specializations. The admission to B.Tech is based on JEE-Main score, The overall cutoff rank for General Category Students and AI Quota for JEE-Main ranges between 87578 - 567879. AKGEC B.Tech first-year fee is INR 1.24 Lakhs - 1.42 Lakhs. The institute offers a total of 1503 seats to various UG & PG courses.
As per the NIRF 2024 data, the median salary package offered stood at INR 5.5 LPA for UG programs and INR 4.75 LPA for PG programs. For JEE Main 2024, CSE remains the most competitive with closing ranks reaching 104584 in Round 4, while CSE (Hindi) had the highest closing rank at 560900, signaling lower demand. For Lateral Entry (2nd Year Direct), CSE (Lateral) closed at 452, with AI & ML and Data Science having cutoffs of 1656 and 4113, respectively.

In 2024, CSE closed at rank 104584 (Round 4), slightly higher than 96796 in 2023, showing it became a bit easier to get in. AI & ML closed at 184762 in 2024, up from 121416 in 2023. ECE improved from 313898 to 244664, and CS (Hindi) improved from 337160 to 299065, showing better competition.
AKGEC Hostels & Other Facilities
Each hostel at AKGEC has a separate mess with a well-equipped kitchen and dining area providing hygienic, nutritious, and wholesome meals. Hostels have a gymnasium as well as indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Each hostel also has a TV room and a library with magazines and fiction/general reading books. Hostels are equipped with eco-friendly solar water heating systems. Hostels also have canteens and provision stores for minor items of daily requirements.
Boys’ Hostel
There are 2 hostels for boys named “Junior Boys Hostel Complex” and “Senior Boys Hostel Complex.” The Junior Boys Hostel can accommodate 300 students with double occupancy rooms. The Senior Boys Hostel can accommodate 600 students with single & triple occupancy rooms.
Girls’ Hostel
There are 3 hostels for girls at AKGEC. These hostels have double and triple seater rooms and accommodate about 600 students.
