B. Borooah College

Established in 1943, B. Borooah College is one of the earliest and prestigious co-educational colleges situated in Guwahati in the state of Assam, which was named after the most respected and prominent person of Assamese business Bholanath Borooah. This college grew under the circumstances of World War II. With the support of B. Borooah College Teacher’s Unit (BBCTU) which is a constituent unit of Assam College Teachers Unit (ACTU) the college has been carrying out various plans and programmes for the welfare and overall progress and development of the college and students as well. The college offers various courses from Arts and Science stream to the students. B. Borooah College is accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC, funded by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated with Guwahati University. It offers undergraduate courses such as B.A., B.Sc., B.B.A. and postgraduate courses such as M.Sc.

B. Borooah College Admission

• Students need to visit the official website of the college (http://www.bborooahcollege.ac.in/) to apply for the course they are interested in.
• They need to fill-up the form along with necessary details, scanned copies of photo and signature along with payment of registration fee online.
• Selected candidates then need to proceed towards admission that shall be held online as well. For that they need to generate their Unique ID from the Office Web Portal (http://dheonlineadmission.amtron.in/sp/) that is developed by the Director of Higher Education Assam.

During the time of admission the candidates need to produce documents such as:

• Original Marksheet of the last qualifying exam
• Certificate of qualification
• Certificate from the head of the institution last attended
• Passport size photographs (2 nos)
• Caste Certificate (if required)
• Provisional Certificate (if required)
• Extra curricular Certificate.

Key Points:

• Applicants of B.A. and B.Sc who are domicile of Assam are eligible for free admission. Rests who are not domicile of Assam have to pay the required amount at the time of admission.
• BBA, B.Sc (IT) and M.Sc courses are self-financed courses. Hence, free admissions for these programs are not available as well.

B. Borooah College Placement

Borooah College has a career counselling and placement cell which is known to provide students with guidance and grooming sessions to excel at developing skills required during an interview. They are also known to organise various seminars, talks and alumni lectures for the betterment of students and encouraging them to join. Various companies reach out to the college campus to provide placement opportunities to the students. The average package varies as per different companies and students get job opportunities in both public and private sectors. Right after their Bachelor’s degree students are eligible to sit for these job interviews and the college also has a good record of its students getting recruited in different companies.

B. Borooah College Faculty

Borooah College imparts good quality education by the very dedicated and highly qualified faculty members with years of experience in this field. The College has a total of 78 faculty members out of which 38 are from Arts department and 40 are from Science department along with the Principal Dr. Satyendra Nath Barman. Among 78 teaching members there are professors, assistant professors and lecturers as well with qualifications such as Ph.D, Post-graduate, double post-graduate degree and M.Phil holders as well.
