1. Overview & History
Established in June 1999, the College of Engineering Vadakara (CEV) holds the distinction of being the first engineering college founded under the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) by the Government of Kerala. It was created to make high-quality, affordable engineering education accessible to meritorious and economically weaker students, particularly in the underdeveloped Malabar region, supporting policy goals of both the Government of India and Kerala.
Located atop a serene hill at Kakkoramala in Kurunthodi, Maniyoor panchayat—approximately 12–13 km east of Vadakara town—the campus spreads over a picturesque 26–27 acres, surrounded by verdant fields and rolling hills.
2. Academics & Programs
Undergraduate (B.Tech) Programs:
CEV offers engineering degrees in five core disciplines, each with an intake of around 60 students:
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Information Technology.
Postgraduate (PG) Programs:
A Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program is available with a 60-student intake, introduced in the 2010–11 academic year.
Diploma Program:
A three-year diploma in Automation and Robotics is also offered, with 60 seats.
Admissions to these programs are conducted via Kerala’s Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) overseen by the State Entrance Commissioner, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.
3. Affiliations & Accreditation
CEV is affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), having previously been linked to CUSAT (Cochin University of Science and Technology) earlier in its history.
The institution is approved by AICTE, holds an NAAC accreditation of grade B+, and is ISO 9001-2015 certified—affirming its commitment to quality and standards.
