Punjab Institute of Engineering and Applied Research

The Punjab Institute of Engineering and Applied Research (PIER), located in Mohali, Punjab, is a private, self-financed technical institution established in 2008 under the aegis of the Guru Nanak Dev Educational and Charitable Society with the objective of providing quality technical education and creating a dynamic learning environment for aspiring engineers. Affiliated to I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, the institute offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in core branches of engineering and applied sciences, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Information Technology. The institution is known for its strong academic framework that blends theoretical knowledge with practical exposure through its state-of-the-art laboratories, modern workshops, and ICT-enabled classrooms that ensure students receive a hands-on learning experience aligned with industry standards. The central library is one of the key assets of PIER, housing thousands of volumes, titles, and journals—both national and international—while also providing access to DELNET resources, multimedia PCs, and reprographic services, creating a robust knowledge hub for both students and faculty. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled and integrates technology into daily learning, fostering research and project-based education. In terms of student life, PIER provides well-furnished separate hostels for boys and girls with multiple accommodation options such as three-seater and four-seater rooms, attached washrooms, and even AC rooms, ensuring comfort and convenience for residents along with hygienic mess facilities, security, and recreational spaces. The campus infrastructure is comprehensive, including an auditorium for cultural and academic events, sports grounds for cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, and indoor games, a gymnasium, transport facilities that connect students to nearby towns and cities, a cafeteria serving fresh meals, and healthcare services with first aid and medical support. Beyond academics, the college encourages holistic growth through extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as workshops, technical fests, paper presentations, debates, cultural programs, and national-level technical symposiums, nurturing creativity, leadership, and teamwork among students. The Training and Placement Cell plays a pivotal role in preparing students for the professional world by conducting aptitude training, soft skills development, mock interviews, industrial visits, and collaborations with reputed companies across IT, manufacturing, consultancy, and engineering sectors, with placement packages averaging around 3–4.5 LPA and top offers reaching up to 8–10 LPA. To support meritorious and deserving students, the institute also offers a range of scholarships including merit-based, need-based, and category-specific financial aid for SC, ST, OBC, minority groups, sports achievers, and siblings, making education accessible to a wider section of society. With its strong academic foundation, modern infrastructure, vibrant campus life, and a consistent focus on placements and skill development, PIER has established itself as an institution dedicated to nurturing technically sound, socially responsible, and globally competent professionals who are prepared to meet the evolving demands of industry and society.
