Sershah Engineering College,Sasaram(SEC Sasaram)
Is a government engineering college managed by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of Bihar. It is approved and recognized by AICTE and is affiliated to Bihar Engineering University Patna.
Sasaram, is the administrative headquarter of the Rohtas district in the Indian state of Bihar. Rohtas, an historical place, became a District, carved out of the district of Shahabad, in the year 1972. It is famous for production of stone chips, and for quarrying industry. Major languages spoken in this region are Bhojpuri, Hindi, and Urdu.
Sasaram was originally named Shah Serai (meaning “Place of King”) as it is the birthplace of the Afghan king Sher Shah Suri, who ruled over Delhi, much of northern India, what is now Pakistan, and eastern Afghanistan for five years, after defeating the Mughal Emperor Humayun. Many of Sher Shah Suri’s governmental practices were adopted by the Mughals and the British Raj including taxation, administration, and the building of a paved road from Kabul to Bengal.
The fort of Sher Shah Suri at Rohtasgarh is in Sasaram. This fort has a history dating back to the 7th century AD. It was built by Raja Harishchandra in the name of his son Rohitashwa, son of illustrious king Harishchandra, known for his truthfulness. It houses the Churasan temple, Ganesh temple, diwan-e khas, diwan-e-aam, and various other structures dating back to different centuries. The fort also served as the headquarters of Raja Man Singh during his reign as the governor of Bihar and Bengal under the regime of Akbar. The Rohtaas fort in Bihar should not be confused with another fort of the same name, near Jhelum, Punjab, in what is now Pakistan. The Rohtaas fort in Sasaram was also built by Sher Shah Suri, during the period when Humayun was exiled from Hindustan.

Sershah Engineering College was established in 2016 by the Government of Bihar under DSTTE(earlier department of Science &Technology). The college has approval of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Bihar Engineering University(BEU), Patna. Sershah Engineering College, Sasaram is an Engineering Institution established under 7 Nishchay Bihar Yojna, Govt. of Bihar. Since its inception in 2016, SEC Sasaram – like its young as well as established peers- has pursued academic excellence among its peers in Bihar state. The institute offer Bachelor of technology in 6 Engineering Disciplines: Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology), Mechanical Engineering and Mining Engineering. The faculty members are experts in their respective fields. SEC Sasaram facilitates the students and the faculties study, discuss.

Sershah Engineering College, Sasaram is a Government Institution under Dept. of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Govt. of Bihar and is bound to function as such. However in Academic and related areas it has to be responsive and participants in the decisions and deliberations of apex bodies like All India Council for Technical Education, National Board of Accreditation etc ensuring innovations in Pedagogical and practical aspects of Technical Education. The Administration and Management of the Institute are oriented to these ends too.
Though the Principal is the overall in-charge of all activities and movements of the Institute for smooth functioning and making administration work efficient. Each department and section work under a Professor of proven capability.
