Uttar Pradesh Textile Technology Institute (UPTTI), earlier known as Government Central Textile Institute, is a Government-owned Autonomous Institution established in 1914. It is located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Institute is approved by UGC & AICTE, New Delhi. It is affiliated with AKTU, Lucknow, and has NBA accreditations. The Institute has B.Tech ranking by IIRF, 113 out of 160 colleges in India in 2024.
UPTTI Kanpur offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs. Among B.Tech is its flagship course, and the fee for B.Tech is INR 1,12,500. Admissions for B.Tech are based on JEE Main, followed by UPTAC Counselling. M.Tech admissions are based on GATE or direct entrance test at the institute level or through AKTU counselling, and Ph.D. admissions require a written exam and RDC conducted by AKTU.
UPTTI Kanpur major recruiters are Trident Group, Alok Industries, Vardhman Textiles Pvt. Ltd, Jayshree Textiles(Aditya Birla Group), Arvind Group, Raymond, Bhilosa, Reliance, and many more. In the academic year 2023-24, the highest package reached INR 12 LPA, and the lowest, INR 2.6 LPA. A total of 94.67% of students were placed in this academic year.

As per our research, UPTTI Kanpur has scholarship facilities for the students. The institute offers scholarships to deserving students based on academic excellence, and SC/ST students are eligible for additional schemes like the "Dashmottar scholarship and fee reimbursement scheme of Samaj". Additionally, the institute offers scholarships through AICTE, which provides scholarships for differently-abled students.

UPTTI Kanpur Hostel
UPTTI Kanpur has 7 boys’ hostels with a capacity of approximately 500 students and 2 girls' hostels with a capacity of 150 students. Each hostel has a dining hall, kitchen, reading rooms, and other recreational facilities. As per our research, the hostel rooms are shared by 3 students in one room with a bed, almirah, table & chairs, and proper electricity connection with good mess food. The hostel fee is around INR 19,000 per annum. Some have also mentioned that the hostels have twin sharing and single rooms, which are given on a first-come, first-served basis to distant students.
UPTTI Kanpur Campus
UPTTI Kanpur is spread over 20 acres and has a Wi-Fi-enabled campus with a centralized computing system. The library has E-Resources, a collection of over 18000 selected documents, including 7000 bound periodicals in the field of Textile science, and has subscribed to over 46 journals. The Library also stocks a collection of reports and dissertations in the field of Textiles.
