Welcome to Government Polytechnic Lohaghat.
This institute was started in October 1975 in rented buildings named Fernhill in the border district Pithoragarh. Initially, three-year Diploma Civil Engineering and two-year Stenography and Secretarial Practice Diploma courses were started in this institute with 30-30 admission capacity. From the session 1984-85, three-year Electrical Engineering Diploma course was started in the institute with 30 admission capacity. Which was included in Electronics Engineering Diploma course 30 from the year 1986-87. From the session 1985-86, two-year Diploma Pharmacy course was started in the institute with 30 admission capacity. And from the year 2002-03, three-year Information Technology Diploma course was started.
Under technical education in the institute, education is provided for providing three year and two year diploma in engineering branches such as Civil, Electronics, Information Technology and Engineering North branch of Pharmacy and M.O.M. & Secretarial Practice branches respectively.
Engineering courses are conducted by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and pharmacy courses are conducted on the basis of standards set by Pharmaceutical Council of India (PCI). Conducting annual examinations and entrance examinations and awarding diploma after study is done by Uttarakhand Technical Education Council, Roorkee, constituted by the Uttarakhand government. Another main function of this council is to determine and revise the curriculum for various engineering branches in the institutions, while the curriculum related to pharmacy is done by Pharmaceutical Council of India (PCI).
